I wish
you all the best for 2013! I don't know what's in store this year, so I
suppose that we will just have to wait and see. And keep a positive mental
attitude. Easier said than done, I must admit.
As for
me, I don't know where I belong any more, but, honestly, who cares? Never
before has my home country been so polarised, and all French living abroad are
seen as tax exiles. How funny!
The thing
is, I am happier here. I sometimes wonder why. Something to do with the fact
that I feel less judged. One thing is for sure, it is not because of the
weather, because the last few days have been a wash-out. But what would I do
without the Tate Britain and chocolate croissants? I wonder. And yes, I have a
French accent, but who doesn't have an accent in London?
In short,
contrary to what was implied when I was younger, there is a life outside of
France.
And I won't make any New year's resolutions because I never keep them anyway. Life is just too short, I will just enjoy 2013! How about you?

I have made a few goals but no resolutions as such. Check them out on my new blog :)
ReplyDeleteChecking them out right now...
ReplyDeleteAll the best for 2013, Muriel! Sounds like you have the perfect attitude for heading into a new year...I hope to brings you and your family lots of good things.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year Muriel!!!
ReplyDeleteNo resolutions here either as I never keep them but I have feeling that this new year is going to be better than the previous one: my mum is going to visit soon and I have prospects of starting a job as well (outside the house) few times a week... Looking forward to it.
I am like you, no resolutions! Happy New Year! Here's to having fun and taking it easy! :)
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year, Muriel! Happy to see that some of my blogging buddies do not make any resolutions either, mine from earlier years went down the drain and as I do not want to cause any more pollution, that was the end of them!
ReplyDeleteHere Here :) Happy NY to you. You are a member of the world community - so wherever you are happy at the time...that's who you are.
ReplyDeleteHappy new year! I don't know what is in store for us but you know what, we will take it one day at a time!
ReplyDeleteI like that! Member of the world. I wish people would understand that a bit more! How about you, Janine?
ReplyDeleteCheers to that! Life is too short to make it more complicated than it needs to!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! Well, enjoy your Mum and good luck for the new job!
ReplyDeleteThank you Flora. How about you? What are your plans for 2013? Any breaking news?
ReplyDeleteYou've made me think of something important and crying to be answered....where am I happier? I've always said I was happier in Manila. But have I really stopped to seriously think about that 'belief'? I still don't have the answer. Maybe that should be my 2013 resolution? Happy New Year!! :-))
ReplyDeleteLove this fresh start to the new year you had! =) Just being in Vancouver temporarily has me missing Peru already because I'm happier there as you're happier in Britain. =) I'll vicariously live through your expat happiness while I'm here. =P
